YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT THE FURTURE WORK OF PSTOO by purchasing one of these unique performance objects for your home collection. They were modeled after illustrations of the commanders involved in the 1812 French Invasion of Russia, and used for performances of VOICE OF THE HOLLOW MAN, 1992-2001 .
The performance objects are made of polymer clay; then, several coats of gesso were sanded smooth and finished with acrylic paints and glazes. The bases hold plastic soldiers and are of various sizes to reflect the relative strength of each command and could be removed during the performance to show the loss from battle – but are now glued in place. Threaded brass rod holds the General over his men and is of various lengths to indicate rank. Each brass rod is topped with a
BLACK ANGEL.
Theater writer Eileen Blumenthal selected the photo by David Emery, used in the poster design above, for publication in her illustrated book on the world history of puppet art from Abrams.
